Notes

Jesus of Nazareth
Roman power spread to Judea; home of the Jews around 63 B.C.
6 A.D. Rome seized control of the Jewish kingdom and made it a province of the empire.
Biblical tradition told of a Messiah that would come to restore and save the Jews. Jews believed that they would be saved by this Messiah.
Sometime around 6 and 4 B.C., Jesus; a Jew, was born into the town of Bethlehem in Judea.
Raised in Nazareth in northern Palestine, he was baptized under John the Baptist.
Jesus began his public ministry at the age of thirty.
He worked, taught, preached, and performed miracles upon the people.
Most of what is known about Jesus can be found in the gospels in the Bible.
Because Jesus was not about the fame and the glory, he was known by many people. He did not want to be rich or have a high status which the poor liked.
Jesus' Death and Resurrection
Jesus was welcomed into Jerusalem in 29 A.D. by many large crowds and praised. The crowds greeted him as the king or the Messiah. The people thought Jesus was the Messiah but Pilate denied his authority. Pilate did not like how Jesus was being praised so he had him arrested and sentenced to death upon the cross (crucifixion).
After Jesus' death, he was buried in a stone tomb and he rose from the dead (resurrected) and ascended into heaven.
Christianity Grows among the People
Christianity spread slowly through the Roman Empire.
Apostle Paul never me Jesus but had a vision of him on one of his trips. Paul used to deny Jesus and persecute Christians for their faith but later in his life, after Jesus had appeared to him, he began to believe in Jesus and spread the word.
